Lucknow | A high-level meeting led by Sandeep Bansal, National President of the Akhil Bharatiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal and Uttar Pradesh Yuva Udyog Vyapar Mandal, was held at the Mayor’s office on Friday. The occasion marked a united call from the city’s trading community to join forces in making Lucknow the cleanest city in India, and in spirit, bring back its ancient identity as ‘Lakshman Puri.’
Congratulating Mayor Sushma Kharkwal for Lucknow securing 3rd position in the national cleanliness survey, Bansal emphasized that the responsibility of keeping the city clean must not rest solely on the Municipal Corporation.
“Every trader, market association, and citizen should actively take ownership of their surroundings. Clean markets reflect a clean city,” he stated.
A joint resolution was passed encouraging every marketplace in Lucknow to maintain dustbins between every two to three shops, with traders personally ensuring waste disposal and cleanliness compliance. Mayor Kharkwal assured full cooperation from the municipal side, stating that the Corporation is committed to enabling infrastructure support wherever needed.
The meeting also addressed the complete phasing out of polythene, urging market leaders to adopt and promote eco-friendly alternatives.

- Dr. Ramkumar Tiwari, Convenor of the Mangal Maan Abhiyan
